Aims & Scope

The journal Politics and Security Governance aims to provide a platform for high-quality, interdisciplinary research at the intersection of political science, security studies, and governance. The journal seeks to explore how political dynamics shape and are shaped by security governance structures at the local, national, regional, and global levels. It encourages submissions that critically examine the roles of both state and non-state actors in security governance, the evolving nature of power and authority in global security, and the impact of emerging security challenges on governance systems worldwide.

Politics and Security Governance welcomes theoretical and empirical contributions from diverse disciplines, including international relations, political science, sociology, law, and development studies. The journal covers topics such as:

  • Theoretical and conceptual explorations of security, including but not limited to concepts of the state, sovereignty, security dilemma, securitization, and human security
  • Global and regional security governance structures
  • The influence of geopolitical conflicts on global governance frameworks
  • National and transnational security policies and their implications
  • Cybersecurity, digital governance, and the impact of emerging technologies
  • Counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, and military strategies
  • The intersection of security and human rights

  • Fieldwork-based area studies, including but not limited to the Middle East and North Africa, Caucasus and Central Asia and Eastern Europe and the Balkans
