Abstract
An international colloquium,“French Theory in China”, was held at Shanghai University from October 11 to 13, 2019. The colloquium was jointly organized by the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Center for French Thought and Culture, and Center for Critical Theory at Shanghai University. Thirty-one scholars from home and foreign institutions participated in the event. The colloqui-um focused on the retrospective defnition and evaluation of French Theory, its new development in the world, its reception in China and its influence on contemporary Chinese social and cultural studies.
