An Empirical Study of the Satisfaction of Old People and the Construction of Age-friendly Community——Based on the Survey of Hefei City, China

The Chinese government encourages the development of age-friendly community, which is an inevitable requirement for actively responding to the aging population. With the rapid development of urbanization, the aging environment of new and old communities has been different. This paper conducts a questionnaire survey in the five districts of Hefei with totally 1426 elderly people participated. The results are indicated current satisfaction level of the existing communities from the four dimensions (i.e., basic conditions, hardware facilities, elderly-caring services and construction needs), and analyzed the differences of the old and new communities by using T-test. The results are found out that the hardware facilities and the elderly-caring services of the old community are worse than the new ones. The elderly have more demand for facilities of the old community and their satisfaction of some public facilities in the old community needs to be improved. It is urgent to optimize the policy environment, promote the aging-friendly environment, meet the multi-level needs of elders, and form a platform for multiple stakeholders to participate in the construction of age-friendly communities.
