Cognitive science research and the development of related discipline

Abstract

Cognitive science is a new and interdisciplinary field that the world'sscientific and academic circles pay attention to.The development of cognitivescience will change people's living conditions,improve people's quality of life,and will also promote the development of many related disciplines.This articlefocuses on the dual goals of cognitive science construction:exploring themysteries of the human mind and promoting the development of relateddisciplines.It also brief the status of cognitive science research carried out byworld-class universities,as well as the basic strategies and some results ofTsinghua University's development of cognitive science.Shu Shan(1950-),male,director of the Cognitive Science Innovation Baseof Tsinghua University,director of the Psychology and Cognitive ScienceResearch Center of the School of Humanities,professor of the Department ofPhilosophy,researcher of the Center for Science Technology and SocialResearch,Ph.D.,research direction is language logic,Cognitive logic,philosophy of mind,etc.(Beijing100084).In2001,the Humanities and Social Sciences of Tsinghua University hadformed a group known as the Cognitive Science Innovation team which joint bythe Humanities and Social Sciences,Computer and Information Science,Medicine and Neurosciences of Tsinghua University and other off campusorganizations such as Institute of Psychology,Chinese Academy of Sciences andInstitute of Languages,Chinese Academy of Social Sciences,etc.In October2004,the cognitive science team of Tsinghua University won the "985" projectbidding competition organized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry ofFinance,and received funding from the Ministry of Education's Philosophy andSocial Science Major Innovation Base Project to establish a cognitive scienceinnovation base,thereby,the cognitive science research of Tsinghua University has begun to enter the normal track of development.Many friends asked me why does Tsinghua University do cognitive scienceresearch?What can cognitive science bring to you?Thus,this article intends tobriefly discuss the relevant knowledge and experience of cognitive scienceresearch,and also to seek advice from colleagues in the academic circle and allscholars who are concerned about the development of cognitive science.
